Question
I have a pocket watch marked Waltham on the face. It is a seventeen jewel watch and marked "Swiss", "Unadjusted", "WX0", "Waltham Watch Co." and"HM-X".  I cannot find a serial number but behind the movement I can read the numbers 431. I am trying to date this watch and perhaps find out who the watch maker is. Can you help me?
Thank you
Susan

Answer
Ms. Susan,

After Waltham went bust several overseas operators got control of the name. To my knowledge the name is used in the US to import such items. They bear no relation to the US made Waltham watches.
They claim to be continuing the Waltham tradition but they are a new operation and the old one never imported Swiss movements, although they did bring in some parts from there.
