Clocks, Watches/Wristwatch

Question
I have been wondering for quite some time now how the dates work in quartz wristwatches. It appears to have some sort of scroll but I'm wondering, how does it roll over every month and how do the day of the month and day of the week work even though every month has a different amount of days.

Answer
Colton,

The day and date are wheels.  As the hands go around, they move the day and date wheels as well.

I could suggest that you buy a cheap watch,  take the face off, and rotate the hands like you are setting the time.  You will see how the wheels interact.

Kind regards,

Melvin
