Clocks, Watches/adjusting a Seth Thomas mantel clock

Question
Mr. Saunders,
My Dad just gave me my Great Grandmother's Seth Thomas mantel clock. I have no idea when it was made (guessing 1900-1910) and it is running well but a little fast. I see the adjustment on the front but I don't know witch way to turn it. The other thing that I would like to know is the easiest way to adjust the chimes for the hour. Thanks you so much for your time.

Answer
these come with two methods of counting the proper hour and it is imperative that we know which is employed in your clock to advise on adjusting the hour strike. do you have a photo of the mechanism you can attach here? any markings on the back brass plate of the mechanism? as to the fast-slow adjuster- they were different also. just keep a log and turn it one turn CW and see what happens.
