Clocks, Watches/re-start

Question
I have a mantle clock in which the original works were replaced with Franz Hermie 2 jewel 340-020A. My questions:
1) When allowed to run down and stop, how do I re-start after re-winding? Sometimes a push on the exposed balance wheel will do it and sometimes it will not.
2) It runs slow about 3 minutes a day. How do I adjust?

Answer
Whenever you need to start a clock with a floating balance, simply pick it up and gently rock it back and forth.  The floating balance is a cantankerous unit and should never be oiled or spun by hand.  I am going to refer you to an inter-net site that will explain this unit to you.  Goto <home.earthlink.net/~atmosman/earthftp.html>  This will bring you to an index upon which you should click on, "Hermle floating balance"  The last time I looked it was item #51.  This should help you.  Regards WJP
