Question
I have a replica Rolex with Japanese movement that needs repaired. the watch just quit working. could it be just dirt or mechanical and is this something you can repair?

Answer
Doug,

to just quit working cold is very rare. If it is a mechanical watch, something may have gotten caught in the gear train to stop it.

If it is a quartz watch, the battery may have gone dead.

You will need to open up the case to look inside to see what is your situation. Look to make sure all the gears move smoothly without any interference. Use a magnifying glass to see if anything is stuck in the gears.

Because of the Internet, counterfeit watches are becoming a real problem for watchmakers. Rolex and other luxury watchmakers are starting to go after counterfeiters. They also go after watchmakers that fix them. For that reason, neither I nor anyone else I know would fix them.

Kind regards,

Melvin
