Question
QUESTION: The clock is level, weights are hung correctly as per book facing it. It will not chime . Clock keeps excellent time.
This is not a windup. I think It needs cleaning. If i kind of move the little butterfly inside , it will chime on next event and thats it .
Model 4505 cutting 8536

What kind of cleaner or solvent?
and what is the date of my clock?
Thank you very much in advance for you time.

ANSWER: heaviest weight goes on the right as you face clock. If pulling slightly and steadily on the right weight while moving the minute hand clockwise will not have it strike- then it is not cleaning it needs- advise what happens........

-- it chimes properly on the next event? like the next time the hand reaches 3/6/9 or 12?? just like it is supposed to but then not ever again??
ok , if yes - after it performs properly, watch the butterfly as you turn the minute hand through the next 1/4 hour- does it move at all? does it start and turn -then stall?
trying to determine with the above questions if your problem is with wear in the mechanism or a mechanical adjustment is needed.
the photo is of a piece of shipping packing that secures the pendulum leader behind the movement- not part of your problems here.
