Clocks, Watches/Weights

Question
I just inherited a Grandfather Clock, Model # 4875  No. 150  Chime, Brick Clock a Diva. of Howard Miller Clock Co. The weights and chain are detached but all parts are present.  Where do I get assembly/repair instruction to reinstall these parts?

Answer
Hi John,

I don't believe there is any one source for instructions on these setup issues, but a good start would be to contact Howard Miller (www.howardmiller.com/) for an instruction manual for any of their chain drive clocks. This should have information on attaching the weights and the all-important pendulum assembly hookup.

The two side chains can be threaded onto their sprockets through the clock's side panels (if it has them). It is advisable to detach the end tabs on the chains before doing this, or they might get jammed in the movement. The center chain, however, is harder to connect. It is occasionally possible to thread it up into the movement from underneath, by using coat hanger wires or makeshift tools, but it is most often necessary to remove the movement from the clock to get the chain attached.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
