Question
QUESTION: Hello,

This clock belonged to my grandmother and I have loved it since I was a little girl.  Now it's on my mantle and consistantly runs about 10 minutes slow.  How I can regulate it?
Thanks so much for you time.

ANSWER: the weight that swings side to side - tighten the nut underneath so the weight is higher - it will run faster.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: After looking at the clock, there isn't a nut to tighten underneath.  It's a wire bent more like a paper clip shape at the top.  Now it's running about 30 mintues slow.  Are you familiar with this bent wire?

Answer
non- adjustable bobs look like this:

adjustable bobs look like this:

if properly equipped originally with a non adjustable one, then in the dial there is an access with a thumb wheel or a little hole in the dial for a small end of a double ended key to adjust the time.

Your bent wire may be an adjustable bob missing the nut (if the end below the bob is threaded)

or an adjustable bob missing the original wire and having ,in fact, been replaced by a paperclip! Is the wire loose in the bob or fixed into it?

of course the error is cumulative - 10 minutes/day is 30 minutes in 3 days!
