I have a harris & mallow school house clock 31 day movement.  Model # 134 203 285 After winding it is difficult to restart.  Can it be cleaned or are the parts too worn? Is there a replacement movement?

Verichrome used a variety of movements to power their clocks.  I am inclined to believe a good cleaning is in order.  In lieu of that alternative you might consider replacing the movement.  You would probably have to rely upon a local clock repair person to locate the appropriate replacement movement.  The appropriate course of action, for you, is to detiremine what the clock means to you and what you feel it worth.  Most importantly its emotional value.  Regards WJP
