ANSWER: weight drive clocks can not be overwound. tell me more.
was this working fine last night? 6 years ago? Just moved it from NJ?
just moved the weight up and now it stopped? How old a clock?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: The clock was made in 1995. No it was not working last night, but it had worked in the past. Yes the clock had been moved recently. Thank You for your help.

ANSWER: is this a cable clock with pulleys on the weights and a crank key or a chain driven clock where you pull the chains up to wind it?

It worked before it weas moved and now not working since moving it?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: This is a clock with cable and pulleys and crank key, with three holes for the crank.

Answer
typical problem with moving the cable clocks is that the cables get tangled and crossed over each other on their drums. flashlight and a close look will show a problem. if it chimes and strikes ok but does not tick - probably the middle drum is in trouble. Try unhooking the pendulum from the pendulum leader just under the seatboard of the mechanism and see if it will tick really fast with out the pendulum on --let it run the weight down to the bottom and rewind and put pendulum back on.
