QUESTION: The clock is a Pearl Crandfather which runs perfect,except now it chimes 20 times at the hour rather than 16 tims.
This is because it strikes 8 times at the quarter.

ANSWER: Give me a count by quarter hour.  Is this constant or intermittent?  Regards WJP

This is a new one on me.  Presuming it is a constant rather than an intermittent problem you will have to examine and correct the actions of the chime works that are located behind the dial and in front of the front plate.  Before attempting this, gain access to the back of your clock so that you can read and copy all the information stamped upon the movements brass backplate.  With that information I might be able to locate an exploded schematic drawing of your movement and use it to guide you to the area of examination and posible correction.  Send this information to my e-mail address; <flashpowder@hotmail.com> use Pearl Grandfather chimes as subject.  Regards WJP
