Clocks, Watches/Finding the right movemement

Question
QUESTION: Michael-
I'm trying to replace the movement on a Howard Miller "Reminisce" clock. The
original movement says "Eastern Time Ltd." and has a sticker with the
number 814 on it. It also says "Quartz Super Accuracy - Hong Kong" and
takes one AA battery. It's got a larger case than the one I found at the craft
store (about 2 1/4" square with a hole to mount it to the case at about one
inch on one side and an inch and a half on the other). How do I go about
finding a replacement? Any help would be appreciated!
Shae

ANSWER: There are several companies selling quartz movements on the Internet including my company www.norkro.com
Some of the options you need to consider are:
Does the movement chime?
Does it have a pendulum?
Is there a large mounting nut at the base of the handshaft?
How thick is the clock face that the movement hand shaft will be going through?
Most quartz movements us an "I" shaft hand mounting. This means that the minute hand will have an oval hole and a small nut to hold it on.
If your movement has a round hole in the minute hand the movement will be harder to replace.
What kind of battery does your movement use?
You can browse our website or answer the above questions and I'll try to point you to a suitable replacement.

QUESTION: Michael-
It's has a round holes for both hands and the "nut" has really just a little hole
for the pin on the movement (not a 'screw' type post). It doesn't chime or
have a pendulum and we could always hear it tick. It uses a AA battery and it
needs to go through a face about 1/4" thick. I attached a picture of it, maybe
it will help you. (I can send more pictures if necessary) I'd love to order from
your site but I need some guidance for the right part.

ANSWER: I don't sell this movement but I'll give you some websites you can try:
www.clockit.com
www.clockparts.com

QUESTION: Any idea what it might be called so that I know what to order? That's the reason
I've been asking these questions, so I know what kind of movement to order,
regardless of who it's through.

Answer
You need a mini quartz movement for press on hands.
Also, you need one with a recessed mounting. That means that the mounting nut has mail threads that go inside the movement.
Unless you buy new hands you will need to get one with the same mounting diameters for the minute hand and hour hand.
