Question
I have inherated the above named clock,i would like to know how to wind it and take care of it properly its a west german movement ,number340-020,can it be over wound there are three key holes in the face at nine, six and three, what does each wind?,does it need to be oiled?if so how. Thank you so much for your time, sincerly LAUREN

Answer
The German company Hermle made the mechanism and they are still making them.
cannot be overwound
wind all 3 once a week (minimum)
left is the power for the hour strike
right is the power for the quarter chimes
center runs the time train
no oil needed
if it fails to work after a while take it to a pro.
most of these need help after 25 years
rebuild or replacement is better
