Clocks, Watches/Japy Freres

Question
Sir,
I purchased a Japy Freres clock with lions on the sides and matching candelabras from an antiques market in Strasbourg. I'm having difficulty attaching the pendulum to make it work (it was working at the market and the vendor disassembled it for travel). Any ideas? Thank you.

Answer
typically these strike on a 3" round bell. There is a round nut that holds the bell on the back of the clock- remove the nut and remove the bell and you can access and see how to hook up the pendulum.

the two hooks at the top of the pendulum go on each side of the suspension spring that hangs off the top back of the mechanism and the shaft of the pendulum hangs through the slot in the brass "L" shaped foot that hangs out of the mechanism.

If this does not describe properly your clock's setup or you have further  questions - get back to me.
