Question

Clock
I built a colonial style tall case clock back in 1980,the plans I used were from a clock designed by Eli Terry back in 1802.The author recommended a movement by La Rose be used although I understand the company is no longer in business. My question is if you can recommend a movement similar to the one mentioned. The movement is part #084069 with a 42 inch pendulum drop and a cast iron bell instead of chimes. If you notice in the attached photo;the clock should probably have something like rough cast weights and pendulum. Thank you for your time

Answer
S.La Rose was a distributor of clock parts who went out of business after decades as one of the largest dealers in the business. Most of the items they sold are still available from other supply companies although many have been discontinued by the makers of the parts. I have a few of their catalogs and looked through the 2002-2004 and the 1993-1994 "keep book" catalogs they produced. I did not find that part number so I am guessing that the movement was not sold in the years after the plans for your clock were written.
Did you ever have a movement in the clock? If so I would like to have the factory numbers stamped on the back of the movement. This would tell me who made it and what model it is.
I found some movements of similar description. Merritts has the following item:

Black Forest does not sell to the public but as a clock parts dealer I can get you these items on their website:

Let me know if I can be of more help to you.
