Clocks, Watches/Minute hand off 1 minute from chimes

Question
My in-laws just gave us their 1982 Herschede cable wound rod chime grandfather clock and we've successfully moved and set it up. However, the clock begins to chime when the minute hand still still showing 1 minute short of the hour, or 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 hour. Is there a way to adjust this?

Answer
Sure, take off the nut holding the minute hand to its shaft.  Turn the hand over and you will note the square hole in the hand is actually a pressed in bushing.  This bushing is friction attached, so you need only to grip the bushing with a pair of pliers and turn it however much you need to have the hand pointing at 12-3-6-9 when the chimes began.  If you want precision in this operation, be sure to stop yhe clock during the time you are adjusting the position of the hand.  Regards WJP
