Question
I recently built a grandfather clock, it has a hermle movement 1151-053,a94 cm lyre pendulum,with a eight inch bob.the weights are lt 4.7 lbs,cen 4.7lbs,rt 7.7lbs. the problem is the clock doesn't stay running,it has a nice even tick tock but only runs for 5 minutes. thanks Aj

Answer
The weights you describe are right for the movement.  The clock having a nice even tick for 5 minutes suggests to me the movement has sat on the shelf too long and is in need of at least fresh lubricant.  I suggest you communicate with whomever you purchased the movement from and arrange an exchange.  With Hermle movements it is easy to detiremine year of manufacturing.  Data on the back of Hermle movement plates is arranged in the following order;
Year Of Manufacture-since 1988 an alpha code.   F = 1993
Company Name/Logo                               Hermle
Model Number                                    1151-053
Length of Pend                                  94cm
Beats per Minute                                66.00

The year code for 2008 = U

I hope this helps you.  Regards WJP
