Clocks, Watches/Ebel Classic

Question
My wife recently purchased an 18K Ebel Classic Ladies watch from an estate.  Watch is perfect but needs a couple of links.  She  has been told  this is an early model and there are no parts or Ebel Support.  It has the fold over catch with no safety cap to latch it securely.  Is this the case or are there sources for the links?  Thanks Gary

Answer
Gary,

You are in luck.  Although it very well may be true that there are not any brand new, from the factory, parts, there are most likely parts available in the after market.  That means if you bring it to a watchmaker, he might be able to find the parts from some of his friends that have them left over (but they may be in used condition).

Also,  a jeweler may very well be able to match them to a generic link. It will probably not be a perfect match but if your only choices are to take a link that is available or use it as a pocketwatch, you might think it is not so bad with the slightly different link.

Kind regards,

Melvin
