Question
Mr. Perkins, My parents purchased  this new  12/18/1976. It displays the name Daneker on the face. The movement is  German-F. Mauthe, these are the marking 71  w502  26cm/128.7   Usually every couple years I would remove the movement, clean it, oil it and put it back together, mostly trouble free. This year she stopped, I did my normal service and found the bearing areas very dirty, so I cleaned and oil to no avail, She won't stay running. The pendulum foot piece is bent but it always has been, I made some adjustments to but it didn't help. My question : are there replacement movements available for Mauthe since they went out of business sometime around 1976? Thanks, Al Murrison

Answer
With the information at hand I cannot advise as to availability of replacement movements.  I suspect that one of the Hermle movements would be suitable.  However, to make a recommendation, I would need more information.  First send me all the information that is stamped upon the clock movement's backplate.  Secondly, if you can, send me a digital pic or two.  Try to get a clean shot of the pendulum, both from the side and head on.  Please include a ruler or other measuring devise so that it appears in the pic, thus allowing me to take actual measurements.  It is possible that I have one of the movements you need.  Also If you would answer some questions.  When you cleaned the clock did you take it apart?  Do any of the pivot holes appear to be out of round?  I truly appreciate your desire to keep this girl running, withe the right information available, perhaps I can help you to do so.  Regards WJP
Since allexperts does not support attachments you will need my e-mail address <flashpowder@hotmail.com>  Use Mauthe movement as subject
