Question
Hi!  My Seth Thomas Mantle Clock is about 50 years old and keeps very good time.  However, the on-the-hour chime is off by several hours.  For instance, when the clock reads 9:00 it chimes as if it was 1:00 (4 hrs off).  Is there a way to adjust that?  My Dad used to take care of it and it was never wrong, but I can't remember how he did it.  Your help is greatly appreciated!  Thank you so much!  Jan

Answer
Hi Jan,
You can correct this by moving the HOUR hand ONLY to point to the correct time for the number of strikes that the clock makes. When you do this, the minute hand will not move. Once you have the time and strike synchronized, you can set the clock to the correct time in the usual way, by turning the MINUTE hand forward, stopping at each strike point to let the clock strike, until you get to the correct time.
