Question
I have a beautiful hermle chiming clock it keeps perfect time but the chimes are off. It chimes five min. after the hr. or 5 min. before the hr. depending where I put the min. hand. It has a square hand arbor so I have to put the hands in a certain place. How do I adjust the chimes so it will chime on the hr. It chimes every 15 min so its off all day

Answer
You need to move the minute hand to a position that starts the chimes.  Stop the clock.  Remove the minute hand.  Turn it over and you will see the square hole is in a bushing pressed into the minute.  Take a pliers and turn that bushing sufficient to rest in the precise minute range you need.  For example; the clock ran through the 4th quarter chime as you stopped the motor.  You would move the hand to the 12 position.  Resecure the hand, start the clock and you should be done.  Regards WJP
