Question
I have my mothers Mauthe chiming wall hanging clock that was bought in the 50's i believe. It has never had a problem until i forgot to wind it, and then i moved the "long" arm to set it and now i cant get it to tick tock correctly and it wont keep running.  It does the tick tock...tick tock that i think you spoke of in another post.  thank you for any help..  jill

Answer
I suspect that when you moved the minute hand to set the time that the mechenism went out of beat.  If that be the case the Mauthe usually has an automatic beat regulator, as the clock wears and accumulates dirt that feature ceases to function and you have to correct manualy.  To do so grasp the pendulum at its bottom, pull down slightly and move it back and forth in an arc of about 3 inches.  Bring the pendulum back to dead center and gently set the pendulum to swinging.  If all else is well your clock should continue running.  If this fails, then, I suggest, you have the clock cleaned.  Hope this works for you, regards WJP
