Clocks, Watches/black forest clock

Question
We have a black forest cuckoo clock that does not sound the right number of cuckoos on the hour. We have the instructions and it states the clock should set the correct number automatically. The hour hand seems loose also. We suspect it was messed up by our niece when she stopped the clock once.

Answer
"The hour hand seems loose also" is the key to your problem -- the hand is just a press fit on the shaft and pushing it closer toward the dial makes it tighter on its' tapered shaft- count the cuckoos and put the hand on tight pointing at that number.
