Clocks, Watches/clock runs fast when wound

Question
Hi Ken! You have been very helpful in the past.  I hope you can help me again.  Everytime I wind the clock (which I do the same day and approximate time once a week) the clock seems to speed up about two minutes.  Is this normal?  Also, how do I adjust for daylight savings time?  The clock is a mechanical movement Franz Hermie clock/ 350-020.  Thanks -Caryn

Answer
all spring driven clocks run faster when first wound up and slower when at the end of the run--this is why weight driven clocks are more accurate.
However you should be able to adjust for the variation either by altering the balance speed of the balance wheel(two different ones depending on the age of the movement) in the back or just by moving the minute hand back 2 minutes when you wind it.

Adjust for daylight saving by moving to AZ here with me!No daylight savings here except on Navajo reservations!

Actually you can move the minute hand forward or back 360 degrees (ie. once around the dial) to advance or spring back like next week.
