QuestionQUESTION: A friend inherited a beautiful grandfather clock and the only identification that we can fine is the name amherst on the face of the dial. Can you give me anymore info on this clock?

AnswerYour clock was manufactured in 1993 by the Hermle clock company, located in the Black Forest area of Germany. It is a model 1161-853 has an eight day cable driven movement with Westminister, Whittington and St Michael chime capabilities. The hammers are mounted on bith sides of the chime rod unit. This model is fitted with a 114cm pendulum beating at a rate of 60 beats per minute. The plate demensions are: 200 X 140 mm with an internal distance between plates of 32 mm.
