Question
The battery pendulum wall clock was set ahead one hour this spring by using the hands not the control wheel on the back resulting in the hourly chime dong always being one short.  It plays selected song quarterly and then hourly and can be shut off at night.  The back has a control switch for type of chime (2 choices) and a control switch for chime/AM/PM/set.  Owner's manual has been lost.  Can you tell me how to get the hourly chime dong to properly chime the correct hour?

Answer
Hi Tom,
This happens when the hour hand is accidentally pushed to an incorrect position while the minute hand is being set. The hour hand is a friction fit on its shaft and can be moved to any position without moving the minute hand.
To correct this problem, wait till the clock strikes the hour. Count the number of times it strikes and move the HOUR HAND ONLY to point to that number. The minute hand will Not move. When you are done, make sure that the hour hand is not hitting against either the minute hand or the dial, both at the center of the hand and along its length. You may need to push the hour hand slightly tighter on its shaft. Once you have synchronized the strike in this way, you can set the time the normal way.
