Clocks, Watches/Hechinger Pendulum Movement Question

Question
Dear Sir,

I have a clock that was designed by Michael Graves.  It has a Hechinger battery operated quartz movement that is no longer working.  The problem is that it has a pendulum on it that rests on the top of the movement, it runs down the back of the movement, and there is a magnetic part on the bottom that causes it to move back and forth.  I have not seen a part like that anywhere.  I have seen Hechinger quartz movements (which look identical except for the pendulum parts). I was wondering if one could be adapted to accommodate the top and bottom parts (which look like they are actually attached to the movement).  Alternatively, can the works from a new and identical movement (but without the pendulum parts) be installed in the old movement case?
Thank you,
Shelley Goldstein

Answer
Hi Shelley,

Parts are not generally available for quartz movements, but pendulum quartz movements are available from clock supply houses like Timesavers, Merritts Antiques or Empire Clock. You may be able to find a movement identical to your old one, but even if you can't, it is usually not difficult to replace your movement with a similar movement from another manufacturer.
