Question

Herschede Clock
I'm considering purchasing a Herschede Tambour Clock - "dated 1915" and "Grand Prize Winner at the Panama Pacific International Exposition".  The number stamped on the movement is 29297 - is this the serial number?  If so, wouldn't this correspond to a date of 1924?
Anything you can tell me about the clock would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Bill

Answer
Twenty or so years ago I donated the bulk of my horological reference library to various schools and technical societies.  Not having the information you seek at hand I cannot help you,  I suggest you ask www for sources for Hershede serial numbers.  You might also contact The National Association Of Watch And Clock Collectors, or, the American Watchmaker And Clockmakers Institute.
