Answer
Hi Jack,
I don't recall which chain came off the sprocket on your clock. The side chains can be reattached by accessing the sprocket from the side or back panel openings. First, remove the tab (pull) end of the chain, then thread the chain onto the sprocket while you turn the sprocket until enough chain emerges to pull it down.
To reattach the center chain, you will have to remove the movement from the clock. There are many different ways that movements mount in clocks but, in general, you must remove two mounting screws that go up into the movement from the underside of the seatboard. On some clocks, you must remove the wood dial frame first, and on some clocks you may need to remove the dial also. I wish I could be more specific about this, but there are many variations in mounting methods.
When the movement is out of the clock, remove the tab (pull) end from the chain. Next, thread the chain onto the sprocket until it catches a sprocket tooth. Then you can rotate the sprocket until the chain emerges from the other side and you can pull the chain down.
When you hang the weights, make sure that the heavier weight is on the right side as you look at the clock.
