Question
Our mantel clock chime is off on the number of chimes for
the hour.  At eight o.clock it chimes two times.  The
Westminister music is correct with each quarter hour.  Also
one chime is too soft.  What to do?  Thanks for any help.

Answer
quarters are the "chime"   hour is the "strike"

your strike is off--- move the hour hand (short one) to agree and point at the number on the dial the same as the number of strikes the clock bongs. Reset the correct time with the minute hand as usual.

in the back, bend with your fingers or a pir of pliers the hammer handle of the soft sounding hammer head so it rests closer to the rod it is supposed to hit- and re-try.
