Question
I have a weight driven hermle grandfather clock bought in 1965,it chimes on the hour and sometimes on the quarter hour chiming 32 times and in the middle of the chime the clock will strike once!It doesn't chime at all at the half hour or three quarters of an hour although it clicks at these times, there is no whirring of the part that normally whirrs. Can you offer any advice please

Answer
movement needs professional overhaul or better still a new Hermle movement just like the one in there.

Heaviest weight goes on the right.

What service history does this have/ been rebuilt?

anytime you get clock action occuring "sometimes" without a strict pattern, you have wear and/or internal condition issues.
