Question
We recently bought a piper floor clock at a yard sale.  The left weight does not catch but tends to go to the bottom. It is a little difficult to thread, but when threaded does not stay at the top. The other two weights are at the top.  Additionally, we have no idea how to operate the clock.  Could you please help us?

Answer
I would suggest either the click or click sping is missing or defective for the left side train, that being the strike train.  I would suggest you have this repair made by a qualified clock repair person.  That person could, or should, explain how you should treat or care for your clock.  Regards WJP
