Clocks, Watches/Grandfather Clock

Question
I looked at a Howard Miller "Roosevelt" Grandfather Clock last night.  It was missing the weights and the pendulum was somewhere in the garage.  It was really cheap.  I didn't buy it because I couldn't find weight replacements on the internet, just the generic polished brass shells. Do you know where I could find information on the authentic "Howard Miller" fancy weights? (I checked the "HM" website and kept getting new clocks.)
I noticed that the cables were tied together and couldn't really see the movements inside.  My thoughts were that this clock was broken  and there was more wrong than what was said. Do you think the same?

Answer
Hi Judy,

For original replacement weight shells and weight fillers, contact Howard Miller by phone. They have a parts and technical support department which can tell you if the correct weights are available.

As far as the condition of the movement, I have no way of knowing without examining it. The average lifespan of these movements varies widely among individual clocks, but I would consider wear in the movement's bearings to be a significant possibility in a clock older than (very roughly) twenty years.
