Question
is the thread on the hand shaft the same as the regula .if the cuckoo clock mfg co shaft is stripped is there anything I can do.  ?
thank you.     Dick

Answer
Hi Richard,

Cuckoo Clock Mfg. Co. did not manufacture their own movements. They used both Regula and Huber Herr movements. The hand nuts on these two movements are not cross-compatible. Both types of nuts are available from www.timesavers.com.

Some cuckoo movements have hand shafts which pass through the movement front plate, hold the center gear, and end in a bearing hole in the movement back plate. In this case, you would have to completely disassemble the movement to replace the hand shaft, and it would be more practical to replace the entire movement. Other movements have a hand shaft which is screwed into the movement front plate. In this case, it would be possible to replace the hand shaft without disassembling the entire movement. As far as I know, hand shafts are not available individually. You would probably have to purchase a "junk" movement with a good hand shaft. http://www.clockmasteronline.com
