Question
I recently moved to another home and set up my grandfather clock with no issues... it is a german black forest clock... The chime selection protrudes through an opening on the face. When I select the silent mode, it still chimes... I have tried switching the heavier right weight with the left with the same results...
Would appriciate your recommendation to correct this.

Thank in advance for your assistance...

Answer
The select lever you speak off is attached to another lever by a set screw.  My guess is that the set screw has become loose.  If so it should be positioned correctly before tightening the set screw.  You would need to remove the movement from the dial to perform this task.  Unless you are familiar with clock repair routines you would be better served to have this done professionaly.  As far as weights are concerned, the heaviest weight hangs on your right, (the clocks left), the next heavy the center and the lightest, your left.  Regards WJP
