Answer

Pendulum Leader Assemb
Hi Terry,

Any good clock supply house will have suspension springs. Some companies list Hermle (the maker of the 451-050 movement) suspension springs by movement number or by pendulum length (55cm. on your clock).

If you cannot find a listing for a suspension spring for a Hermle 451-050 movement with a 55cm pendulum, you will have to select a spring by trial and error. Inexpensive suspension spring assortments are available. The suspension spring attaches to the pendulum leader, and the crutch has either a post which passes through an elongated hole in the leader, or a slot which goes around the leader (See illustration). You want to select a spring length which will place the crutch post centered in the hole, or the crutch slot just above the pin or ridge in the leader. The key factor is that the pendulum leader can swing back and forth freely without hitting the top or bottom of the hole, or hitting any pin or ridge on the leader.

CommentWhat fantastic service, a very quick clear & concise response. The description of how the suspension fits the movement and the picture were especially useful. I've loceted a supplier and ordered parts. Thanks very much indeed.
