Question
My grandfather built from emperor kit. it was professionally moved. we removed packing foam. runs but chime is 15 minutes off ( quarter hours chimes for 1/2 hour) and some of the chimes are muffled. is it possible to fix ourselves or do we need professional? anything we can check?

Answer
Hi Judy,

If the clock chimes 15 minutes off consistently, that is, never skips chimes or runs on when chiming, then the only possibility is that the minute hand is in the wrong position. To correct this, turn the minute hand to each chime point until you reach whatever point where it chimes the hour. Then unscrew the hand nut, remove the minute hand, and replace it pointing to the "12". You may also have to line up the hour hand to the number of hours the clock strikes. Do this by moving the hour hand ONLY to point to the number for the hours just struck. The minute hand will NOT move when you do this.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
