Question
Hi,I would be grateful for some information, about a Smiths clock.Inside it says Smiths Clocks & Watches Ltd plus two (2)jewels unadjusted, also the number 605.On the rear its says eight (8)day floating balance. On the face its got Mitrus (I think)written on, plus eight (8)day and at the bottom is written Made in Great Britain. The case seems to be made of part brass with plastic ends.I don't know what the hands and numbers are made of.We think my granny had  this in 1956 and it still works. Many thanks.

Answer
I have been unable to find any references regarding the clock you describe.  Most of my former reference library has been given over to horological societies and schools.  I am very sorry to be unable to provide you with the information you seek.  Regards WJP
