Clocks, Watches/Seth Thomas Mantle Clock stops intermittently

Question
I have an old Seth Thomas Mantle Clock that has been in my family for many years.  It is an 8-day wind up clock, that gongs the number of the hour on the hour and one gong on the half hour. When it is fully wound, it will run keeping good time for as many as 3-4 hours or as little as 10 minutes.  Then it stops.  The movement has "ST" with "Made in the USA" stamped on the movement, but I don't see any number.  I would like to sell it but know I probably need to have it repaired before I do.  I am wondering if it is worth repairing.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer
could be as simple as being out of balance- try 1/4" of something under one end or the other till it sounds better when ticking.

The style and condition of the case would help determine it's value.

It is probably worth more to you being a family thing than you could get for it on the open market.
