Question
QUESTION: Hi I bought this clock second hand, it works fine except the chimes are an hour out. At midnight it only chimes 11 times. How do I get the time and chimes to align. Thanks. The clock is a mantle clock with 3 winder positions and the shut off for the chimes at the 9 O clock position, thanks for your help.

ANSWER: move the hour hand (short one) to agree and point at the number on the dial the same as the number of strikes the clock bongs. Reset the correct time with the minute hand as usual

QUESTION: Hi, I tried as suggested, I waited till the clock struck at 10 am, (9 bongs) I then moved the hands back to just before 9 and let it chime again, (8 bongs). Should I have gone in a clockwise or anticlockwise manor to set the time. You say in the usual way, however I have never been lucky enough to own a clock like this, so nothing is usual.LOL

Answer
you did not follow my instructions. You need to be  moving the SHORT HAND- the HOUR HAND back one hour- (maybe counter clockwise a 1/2"?? or 1/12th of 360 degrees!)

THEN move the minute hand (long one) clockwise till the clock shows the correct time.
