Clocks, Watches/pendulum sticking, query chains?

Question
My Mum as just purchased a grandmother clock, from a secondhand shop. We started to swing the pendulum, we told that it will take time to sort itself out. The problem that my mum has, is when the pendulum as moved to swing, it swings, after a few minutes it stops. We were told this can happen with being transported. The pendulum does tend to stick, would we need any oil to sort this out? Or will it sort itself out once it is use to the surroundings. We would be grateful for your help.

Answer
Either there is something very wrong with this clock or it has not been assembled properly after its move.  These clocks, don't take kindly to moving.  They require special treatment during such occasions.  The statement the clock will sort itself out is ridiculous.  Your vendor needs to provide you with a viable explanation and some help in setting the clock up.  I do hope you have some sort of warranty.  I wish I could help you, I would need a good deal of information to do so.  Regards WJP
