Question
QUESTION: I am working on restoring a clock I found in my grandparents' barn.  All parts are there except the bezel.

Is it possible to purchase these somewhere?  I'm having trouble finding anything large enough.  It's 13 inches across, if I remember correctly.

ANSWER: Hi Trinka,

Bezels are available from clock supply houses like Timesavers, Merritts Antiques and Empire Clock, and sizes as large as you require are available. However, bezels are not standard interchangeable parts. The bezel for each make and model of clock is going to be designed and dimensioned for your specific clock.

The bezel is usually hinged to the outside brass edge of the dial. The hinge may be attached by means of soldering or by screws. You will have to perform this attachment yourself. Also, the bezel stays closed by fitting tightly around the brass edge of the dial. This makes it necessary for you to select a bezel which is exactly the right diameter. Even a 1/8" variation can make a bezel unusable. Finally, bezels are made in various design styles, and these differing styles may affect not only the appearance of the clock, but the compatibility of the bezel with the dial.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com

QUESTION: thank you so much.  I'll investigate the sites you mentioned, and do some research into what would give the best fit.

It is a Sessions Clinton clock, if that is helpful?

Answer
Hi again Trinka,

The make and model of the clock will not be of help to you in purchasing a new bezel; they are listed by size only, and I don't know of any cross-reference to clock models. Of course, if you are looking on auction or antique clock sites for a "parts clock", the model name will be very helpful.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
