Clocks, Watches/slow watch

Question
friend noticed her watch ran slow after putting a magnetic bracelet on.  I believe it is a quartz watch that has minute and hour hands.  Does the magnet load the drive for the hands?

Answer
Doug,

Yes, the magnet is the problem.  If the magnet is stong enough, you can hold it against the back of the watch and the hands will stop completely.

She is going to have to put the bracelet and watch on separate wrists.

Kind regards,

Melvin
