Question
I have a Welby anniversary clock recently acquired from a family member.  It doesn't work and I do not have any instructions as to how to use it or set it etc..  There doesn't seem to be any apparent damage.  Can you tell me where I can find instructions?

Answer
Their really is not a lot of reliable information out there on anniversary clocks.  I don't know if they still exist but it could be well worth your while to pursue a contact with the Horolovar Company.  For many years Charles Terwilliger directed the company.  Upon his death the company passed through a number of hands, I lost track.  Charles was hands down the world' pre-eminent authority on the anniversary clock.  His books are available from many public libraries and certainly appear from time to time on ebay.  I suggest you take a look-see.  Not very many clock repair persons truly understand the anniversary clock and as a consequence their repairs are seldom satisfactory.  Frankly I always felt they numbered amongst the best clock built and at one time made them a sideline speciality.
I wish you luck, regards WJP
