Question
bill, i have that welch daisy clock that i contacted you about, my question is,the hour strike is really fast, is there any way to slow it down? i know the fan works as a clutch  , but i need some advice on the procedure if its possable to slow it down. thanks for your time. chuck

Answer
The fan, (governor), is loose on its shaft allowing the shaft to spin almost free.  To correct you will have to increase the friction fit of the fan to its shaft.  Understand the fan must be capable of spinning on the shaft it must never be fixed to the shaft.  Unless you are quite mechanically inclined I would suggest you have this done.  Again, wishing you luck and my best regards, WJP
