Question
Hi..I am trying to locate a replacement kundo qtz movement for my mantle clock. The clock does have a chime wired to the circuit board. The only # on the movement is 529540 0049.  Thanks for your help.  Thomas

Answer
Hi Thomas,

I'm afraid the numbers you give do not help me identify the movement in your clock. There are many types of quartz movements available from clock supply houses like Timesavers or Merritts Antiques. Depending on what type of clock you have, you may be able to find a replacement movement which is compatible with your clock.

There are movements with and without chimes, and movements with and without pendulums. The main things to consider in finding a movement are: 1)that it is a size and shape that will fit in your clock; 2)the hand shaft length must be the same as your original movement, or the hands may hit either the dial or the front glass (if your clock has one); 3)if the chime is a speaker separate from the movement, that there is a place in your clock case to mount it. You may be able to use your original hands, or you may have to replace the hands if the old ones don't fit the hand shaft. There are many styles and sizes of hands available.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
