Clocks, Watches/seiko skeleton clock not working

Question
I purchased a Seiko skeleton clock that does not work. The numbers on the battery holder are 12400 6124d, I believe the number is 6124d, but the first number is partially worn away. The numbers on the bottom of the clock are Ref: Qaw102G cal.12400. Can you tell me if I can just replace the battery pack or what the problem might be with a skeleton clock? Are parts available for this clock? I hope these questions are not stupid, but I really would like to get this clock running and don't know where to start.
Thank you so much.

Answer
Hi Andrea,

Seiko skeleton clocks have quartz movements, and quartz movements are generally not repairable. First, you should try replacing the battery or batteries with fresh, alkaline batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries or the old-fashioned "heavy duty" acid batteries. If the battery contacts are dirty or corroded, clean them with a pencil eraser or very fine sandpaper.

If the above does not correct the problem, you can contact Seiko at http://www.seikoclocks.com/ You will probably be able to send it to them for repair or replacement of the movement.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
