Question
I am the Third Officer on the USNS ABLE and we have a Boston ShipStrike clock that nobody knows how to set. It is completely inop now and even if we wind it it only runs for 24 hours and doesn't chime. The handbook is nowhere to be found. How do we set this clock? Thank you.

Answer
should not need to set it- is this a two spring clock with two winding holes in the dial? it should strike if not shut off and run for a week -- so you got bigger problems that just knowing how to set it will fix. ships bells as you might know start with one bell at either 4:30/8:30/or`12:30 o'clock and add one bell each half hour after that till getting to 8 total at 4/8/and 12. and struck in pairs to make them easier to count. the hour hand can be moved (friction fit on the shaft) to make it point at the # it should, but the minute hand should not need any adjustment.

any mechanical clock question -no watches- no battery clock questions and no appraisals-ie: "how much is my clock worth?" type questions please! Attach a photo if possible and note all markings on the rear of the mechanism- thanks 40 years as a professional clock repair person- still a full time clock repair service owner
