Question
I have a cuckoo clock (Regula 25 movement) that won't ratchet anymore on the time side winding, the weight simply falls back to the floor. How can this be fixed, and is it difficult to do?

Answer
remove it and perhaps you can fix it but replacement is probably the best idea- depending upon the pendulum length 7 3/4" or 9 1/4" or 11 1/4"( measure from the hanging post, top back of the mechanism to the middle of the wooden leaf) You have to remove the mechanism from the case, hands first, then cuckoo bellows, then bird, then 4 wood screws. The movement is held together by four posts with nuts- loosen the nut nearest the gear and pry the mechanism apart enough to remove the old gear- or take it to a pro.
