Question
I have a Black Forest Cuckoo clock . . . problem is that it is chiming on 10 after and 40 after the hour instead of on the hour and the 1/2 hour . . . how do I fix this? The clock is keeping perfect time, but the chimes are off.

For example: when the clock shows 2:40 it chimes 3 times, when it shows 3:10 it chimes once.

Any advice would be appreciate

Answer
most minute hands on cuckoos are a sandwich of a collet with a square hole- the hand- a flat washer - a nut

if the nut ever got loose then the hand slips from where it should be pointing

loosen the nut about one full turn and the minute hand should be loose to rotate to wherever you want it to point -- then tighten the nut again.

and for the hour hand if needed move the hour hand (short one) to agree and point at the number on the dial the same as the number of strikes the clock bongs. On cuckoos it is just friction fit on the tapered shaft. Reset the correct time with the minute hand as usual
